Westminster is a city that sits on the border of Adams County and Jefferson County in Colorado. The city was originally named DeSpain Junction, before being changed to Westminster in 1911 to match the name of city’s university. During its operation, the university became known as “Princeton of the West.”

Westminster Resources:

Westminster Public Schools – Westminster Public Schools builds a student’s curriculum around their own needs, meaning students can advance at their own pace. The school district believes that a student must be prepared to take on the world a day after their graduation.

Westminster Historical Society – Founded in 1962, the Westminster Historical Society preserves and promotes the history of Westminster. The society maintains the historic Bowles House Museum and Westminster History Center where they host a variety of events and exhibits throughout the year.

Butterfly Pavilion – The Butterfly Pavilion is the first stand-alone, non-profit invertebrate zoo in the entire world. The zoo prides itself on educating the residents of Westminster and the public at large about the importance and protection of insects and other invertebrates.
