Washington Park Home – Kitchen

Project Overview:

The client wanted to refresh their dark and tired kitchen while maintaining the charm of their Victorian home. The existing space lacked cohesion, with outdated draperies, mismatched lighting, and hand-me-down furnishings. The granite was used as a partial backsplash, leading to frequent repainting due to food and grease splashes. The goal was to create a brighter, more polished kitchen with a balanced mix of traditional and updated elements.

Sandy removed the high-top bar and installed new countertops, selecting a granite with rich movement and color to avoid an all-white kitchen. To brighten the space, she painted the cabinets and walls a warm white hue. A classic neutral tile backsplash and an off-white granite composite sink complemented the new countertops. Gold hardware, including antique-style drawer pulls and a gold faucet, was chosen to match vintage pendant lights and a chandelier sourced from an antique store. Custom dining chairs blended traditional silhouettes with modern printed fabric, creating a refined yet updated look. The final design incorporated both traditional and modern elements, giving the kitchen a refreshed, cohesive feel while staying true to its Victorian character.
